P-20 Alliances

UCLA's P-20 Regional Alliancesis housed in Center X in the Graduate School of Education & Information Studies. The P20 work shares the ultimate goal of improving the educational achievement and attainment of young people who come from families and social circumstances that are least able on their own to support high levels of achievement and attainment (e.g., low socioeconomic status of the family, low educational attainment of parents, young person's first language other than English, young person attends or attended a low performing public school). All three programmatic elements involve target populations of young people residing in Los Angeles County and the public schools they attend. The primary work of P-20 supported activities focus on coaching teachers in the content areas in local schools.

BEST (Building Educational Success Through) Collaboration in Los Angeles County

The initiative developed as a result of an agreement between the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association (CCSESA) and the University of California (UC) to build P-20 regional alliances. CCSESA Region 11 is the only region composed on just one county, Los Angeles County, represented by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). In the county, UC is represented by the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). BEST Collaboration in LA County was started by LACOE Superintendent Darline Robles and UCLA Co-Chair of Academic Preparation & Educational Partnership Programs Aimée Dorr and their colleagues.

The BEST Collaboration in LA County ended in 2010, but the reports, guides and information sheets from the collaborative/s conferences are available by clicking on the link below.
